Kavlin frowned at the ground. A place to sleep and food to eat. That was an opportunity that didn't come often. He longed to accept it, but what if it was some sort of trick? --He seems sincere,-- Reg said, licking idly at his paws. --Then we accept?-- --And bail, if the situation becomes too dangerous. I don't think it will be. Rat-sense.-- Kavlin smiled slightly, then slowly rose to his feet. Reg climbed back to his shoulder, swaying on his hind legs then settling more firmly on four feet. It took Kavlin a moment to make out the shape of the stranger, even having seen him move into position. Strange and unsettling, to think he had been there the whole time, unnoticed. Tentatively, he made his way towards the Falsko, kneeling down beside him. "My name is Kavlin, and this is Reg," he said. He started to hold a hand out to shake but remembered the blood and dropped it. "Thank you for the offer of food and safety. We'd like to take you up on it, and maybe pay with help of some kind? We don't have many reputable skills, but I know some simple magic and illusions that might entertain you."

Tes settled into a sitting position while she listened and she soon found herself smiling. Now this Falsko is strange, offering help to a human...with such sincerity....Ha, he is very much like Edward. I wonder, would he run if we tried to meet? I mean, he knows what I am and Kavlins right...people don't take that well... She looked up and tilted her head to the side, now she was very curious. Edward had done his best to try and teach her about human emotion and traits while she was 'reforming' but nothing he'd ever taught her came close to learning first hand. She had been hoping to 'observe' a few of them during her trip to town tomorrow, but this would be far more fun and if she got caught she could at least say she knew Kavlin...sort of.
Her golden eyes sparkled with a little excitement, and a calm washed over her when she inhaled again. For a second she thought perhaps it was the effects of her recent kill, but that normally didn't last this long. She breathed in again, this time focusing on the Falsko's scent. Another wash of calm lulled her, his blood was so strange! Its scent was like something a mix between the sweet scent of damp earth and the dark parts of the forest, it even masked the faint sour smell of the Norsla in Kavlins veins. Her eyes widened in surprise, this was something very new for her...being honestly calm. Wait....what is this? Is this how all Falsko blood is? Why didn't I notice it before, I mean I've met Falsko before...kind of.... While it was true, she had met a few Falsko she was sort of....kept at a distance by her brother. Those meetings where more like 'truce parties', like asking for permission to cross their turf or what not. She hadn't really had time to analyze the smell (just enough to be able to recognize one if they crossed her path) and Edward refused to let her come very close in case she lost control. She was still learning how to control her instincts at that part and her brother was very careful with her. She crept forward slowly, trying to get a better look. From this point she picked up a second scent...that of a Voskon. But how? Its so small...almost like theirs not enough blood to carry the scent very far.... she quieted those thoughts however when Kavlin began to speak and listened.
(Falsko's have a way with animals+Tes is basically an animal, heh I couldn't resist <3)

Rheia sighed. There still wasn't much to go on, and this was not her forte. "I'll go tomorrow to the place where your father died," she announced. "I'm not sure I'll find anything after five years, but it cannot hurt." She paused and thought. "I'll want the note you found. I will also need something that others will recognize your brother and father by, something I can carry. If they had any distinct belongings--jewelry or weapons--or if you have or could get a sketch of them. Whatever you think those who knew them would best remember them by. And what were their names? How old were they? Where did they spend most of their time?" she said, firing off questions as quickly as they came to her. Remembering Alya's comment then, she added, "Where did they spend most of their money?" Her thoughts raced. She had no experience in this and could think of only a few of her skills that might come in handy. She wished, briefly, that she possessed a bit of Elven magic or a Voskon's heightened senses, or at the very least an idea of how to go about this. Instead she had a sharp blade and a desperate need for money. She'd have to make do. Unless... She briefly pondered finding some sort of help--a partner. Even if she split the pay fifty-fifty, she'd still have enough to live on for quite a while if other work did not immediately present itself. She filed that thought away and gave Alya her full attention as she waited for her to answer.

;)Shad laughed softly. "I'm Shad and I'm pleased to make your aquantance...and Reg's." He ignored the blood on Kavlin's hand and took it anyway. "I'm a hunter, Kavlin. Blood doesn't bother me," he said softly. He grinned at the younger boy. "I'm pretty good at entertaining myself, but I'd like to see your tricks." He paused for a moment, listening to a slight rustle in the woods, then passed it off although he kept the sound locked in his memory, his mind always alert to sounds most would never hear. "All I ask is that you help me out some. How good are you at skinning game? Had any experience? Hunting and preparing food through the summer is how I make it through the winter. If you can help with that...We'll call it even. Okay?" Shad changed his attention to Reg reached a out a finger as if to touch the small animal, his fingers desiring to pet the small beast, but half afraid that Reg would bite him. "He looks soft, can I touch him?" Shad asked softly, dropping his hand before it got halfway to Reg. (Come on, Tes! Shad won't bite...unless you do )

"Skinning?" Kavlin smiled wrlyly. "No, I've never skinned anything. Not many chances to catch live food in the city streets, other than rats, and even then I've nowhere to cook them. I'm willing to learn, though, and Reg can catch some small things, or sniff out herbs to cook with." When Shad reached out and dropped his hand, Reg skipped down to Kavlin's leg, standing on his hind feet on Kavlin's knee. He sniffed the air once, taking in the scent of the Falsko, then jumped to Shad's lap and sat back on his haunches. "He likes you," Kavlin said, smiling softly. "You can pet him. He doesn't bite unless we're actually threatened. His act back there was all show." Reg looked his way, ear twitching down with displeasure, and Kavlin laughed under his breath.

Tes brows furrowed together with confusion, she had been so completely focused on the conversation she hadn't even bothered to noticed the small rat in Kavlins lap. The fact that it was rat wasn't the problem however (The whole cats are enemies with rats things wasn't completely true. Her clan hated just about every breed, so being a rat made no difference.) It was the blood scent from the little rat that had her befuddled. She could have sworn she smelled Voskon on him, but she had never ventured into the West before and wasn't quite sure how what their animal forms looked like. She took a few steps closer eying the rat curiously, he looked like a normal rat but still something was off. Very suddenly all the pieces fell together and she understood. Kavlin, the rat, his Voskon friend that apparently disappeared but actually never went anywhere, it was all part of the same mystery. Ha! I knew I wasn't insane, that little thing is a Voskon! she exclaimed triumphantly to herself. For some reason she found herself suppressing laughter, This was the big dangerous Voskon she was worried about? This itty bitty rat was the big danger? A tough lion like you was afraid of a rat! HA! she chuckled, pressing her hand over her mouth trying to quiet the sound. She was surprisingly relieved no longer had many worries about Kavlin giving her away. She was sure he wouldn't take that risk and give his friend away as well. Well thats one problem out of the way, how nice! she thought happily, even more curious than before. She wondered how'd they react if she popped out of the woods and joined them? Probably not well, I'll have to settle for following them...(He he, she won't bite...as long as he keeps her interested )

Shad stared down at the tiny rat. He slowly reached out and touched his head, amazed at how soft he really was. "Wow, you are pretty interesting," Shad admitted, tilting his head to study the animal. "I've never had a pet or a friend. I guess Kavlin's been lucky to have you." Shad looked up and smiled at Kavlin.
"Skinning's not hard. Takes a little practice, but you'll get it. It's definately easier than the actual hunting and usually doesn't take as long. I've got faith in you."

"Ah, you'd better be careful calling Reg a pet," Kavlin grinned. "He might take offense. He has a bit of an ego." --You're not only lucky to have me,-- Reg said. --You're also lucky I don't bite you.-- Kavlin held back a smirk, trying to pretend he wasn't having a conversation with a rat. It was usually easier than this, but he didn't usually talk to anyone for periods of time like this. Lone thieves or individuals from different guilds didn't usually gather together for tea and conversation.

"Sorry, Reg," Shad muttered. He wasn't sure he wanted anyone overhearing him talk to a rat. He had enough difficulties overcoming the fact that he was a Falsko. He didn't need the term insane attached as well.
Shad turned his attention back to Kavlin. "I wasn't planning on heading home tonight, but we can if you wish. It's honestly not too far from here, but I often stay in the woods. I like sleeping out with the wild. Helps make you one with nature and the animals - which comes in handy when you hunt." Shad couldn't believe that he was actually talking this much. His normal quiet self had disappeared with Kavlin's acceptance. He ran a hand through his hair and refastened the leather tie around it. "It's up to you two. We can stay around here or head home. Take your choice."

Hester's heart sank, and she almost felt tears behind her eyes, bitterly disappointed that she might not be able to buy the sword after all. But then it leaped, and it soared. "I can clean weapons!" She burst out, hardly able to contain her relief. Maybe she wouldn't have to sell the pendant after all... "What sort of agreement?" She asked, a little more calmly. "I can work all tonight. My parents won't mind if I come home late, Janira will probably make up crap about me being with some boy, so they won't worry too much. I work fast, and I've had experience. I can clean armour, both chainmail and plate. I can also fix broken or torn chainmail. Just one of the things you pick up, being a daughter of a blacksmith." She shifted from foot to foot for a moent, then turned on her heel, and ran out of the store, yelling "I'll be right back!" Over her shoulder as she reached to door. She almost slammed into Storm, who she had tied outside the shop, only managing to dodge him by throwing herself to one side. She fell painfully on her left hip, hissing. She knew there'd be a huge bruise there tomorrow... Stone cobbles weren't the friendliest thing to fall onto. She slowly picked herself up, and limped over to Storm. "Hey... Guess what?! I think I might be able to get a sword... The next step is a trainer." Then freedom and adventure! She gave him a quick hug, and fumbled with the knotted reins, finally managing to get them undone. She scooted over to Storm's left side, pulling herself on, and taking up the reins, turned him around, using leg aids. (The reins just provided somewhere to put her hands, since the bridle had no bit, so it wasn't a very effective way of directing him. Storm didn't agree to having a cold bit of metal shoved in his mouth, and Hester respected him too much to force him He was her friend, not just her horse, after all.) She nudged him into a trot, then a slow canter, weaving in between and around epople on the street. At first, she thought she would have to ask someone for direction,s but seeing the bakery on the corner, got her bearing, and started home. It was a relatively quick ride, and Hester vaulted off outside her gate. She left Storm standing without tethering him, knowing he would give any potential horse theives a rather nasty surprise if they tried anything. She ran down the path, through the barn, out the other side, and unlatched the back door. She ran through the house, not bothering to try and walk quietly. Janira had ears like a bloody fox, she'd hear it anyway. She dashed into her room, and searched around under the mattress. She found the small hole in the mattress, and stuck her hand inside, soon finding and pulling out a small green box. She hurriedly opened it, and began digging around inside it. In the box were various pictures, letters, and a book or two. (Two. One was titled "The Battle for Golden Peak", the other "Sir Keira", a story about a girl who had become a warrior. Both were dog eared and yellowed, the pictures slightly faded, the spines creased and wrinkled. They had obviosly been read over and over. She put them aside, and continued digging through the dox. Something small and golden caught her eye. She smiled slightly, and she drew out the Unicorn pendant. What the heck, why not? She put it on, running her thumb over it for a moment. With a muffled yelp of relief, she found what she was looking for. 7, no 8! Silver coins at the bottom of the box. She shoved the thing back inside her mattress and charged out of the house, ignoring anyone shouting after her. They wouldn't catch her. She leaped back onto Storm, and off they went, this time at a canter that was almost a gallop. Before Hester knew it, they wrre outside the dark little store. She slid off Storm and pushed open the door, walking up to Rabastan. "Here. The coins I have. Now when do I start working?"

Kijah warmed her hands and moved her chair closer to the fire, it was nice to be in here and smell all the cooking foods. Granted she had hunted the past few days, caught small game here and there but a good home cooked meal sounded nice about now.
It didn't seem too crowded in here although she could smell the scents of various races in the room, some old scents some new. She chanced to steal a quick glance around the room, there was a man over near the bar, he stared at her curiously a time or two, no sign of anyone else working though which was odd, usually there is a server girl wandering around.
Kijah's gazed stopped at a table, a young girl was there, seemed to be quietly observing the room, even speaking to the man at the bar sometimes, must be a regular.
Kijah ducked her head back down and pulled her cloak tighter, no need to get caught staring, some might think she was looking for trouble. Defiantly not the foot she wanted to get started off on.

Silver, I've made a new board for us here.--- "What do you think Marco?" Cally said as the owner walked over to her. "About what?" Cally laughed. "I don't know. Everything, nothing." She shrugged. Marco shook his head, he knew what was coming. Cally was getting bored, and when she got bored she usually hunted for a fight. Cally had arrived in town 4 weeks ago, armed with nothing but a short dagger. She had then proceeded to challenge everyone in the bar to a fight to first blood, the winner buying the looser dinner. A new comer had taken her up on the fight and quickly regretted it. The fight lasted mere moments with Cally emerging the victor. The man leaving with a light scratch on his neck. He strolled over to Kijah. "Would you mind doing me a favour?" He asked her softly.
