Cally chuckled as she left the man behind her stammering. She had just informed him that his wife knew he was cheating on her. She tugged her coat tighter over her slim body, cursing the cold winds that blew through town. No matter what time of year you could always count on the cold winds from the mountains to chill you to the bone. She smiled as she approached BelAit, the tavern she was staying at. She liked BelAit, it was one of the few establishments that accepted all five races of Tksna. "Hey Marco." She called as she sat by the window. "Afternoon Cally. The usual?" The man behind the bar asked. Cally nodded and paid the man as she accepted the plate of food. "I take it you had a good day?" Cally chuckled. "You could say that. Just another marriage ruined because one was unfaithful." "You know, I'm surprised people don't cease their activities immediately when they see you." Marco commented. "They probably would, but I have a trick up my sleeve so they don't know I'm watching." She said with a grin. Marco shook his head and returned to the bar, leaving Cally sitting on her own at the large table. As she waited for the older man to bring her her meal she thought about her job, technically she was an information collector, although she was often approached by women who wanted to know if their husbands were faithful. She waved to her blonde friend who passed by, her arm looped in that of a dark haired man. That was Cally's latest assignment, so far he hadn't made any move on the blonde beauty. "He might be one of the few faithful onesShe mumbled to herself, thanking Marco as he brought her meal.

Shad slipped inside the taven virtually unnoticed. He was good at that. He handed Marco a payment as he sank down in a chair with his back to the wall. The day had been successful. Good hunting had provided an ample supply of food to prepare for the coming winter. He was always thinking ahead to winter, when the weather made it hard for him to leave the cave that he called home. He eyed the girl at the other end of the table. She seemed nice enough, but being an orphan hadn't left him open to suspicion for nothing. Even the nicest people could be different underneath their skin. He kept one eye on the room as Marco delivered his meal. Food was heavenly, especially when he didn't have to prepare it himself. He allowed himself to relax slightly and dug into the plate with gusto.

Calliope sat at a table near the bar. She dared not remove her cloak...she would prefer to go unnoticed. She waited a few minutes, as she had time to spare. Her fellow diners looked quite content, though the male...well, he seemed to be watching her as much as she was him. She enjoyed this tavern, as it had an air about it similar to that of the forest where she dwelled. It was important business that had even brought her out of the forest. It took a lot to get Calliope to venture from her comfort zone, but BelAit was one of the few places where she could - relax wasn't the word, but there wasn't really a word for it, so relax would have to do. She quietly whispered her meal order, and settled in. Maybe she could forget about everything for awhile, and concentrate on the here and now.

Hester sighed as she pushed the tavern door open. She waved to Marco, and strolled over to the bar. She glanced around as she walked, taking in everyone there. There were a few strange looking people, most covered up in cloaks. Hester was always interested in seeing someone from another race... She didn't think alot of the city people had the right idea in mistrusting them. She chatted to Mrco for a couple of minutes, the walked gloomily over t a large table. There didn't seem to be anyone sitting there, except for one young woman. Hester nodded to her, then dropped onto the bench. She sighed and propped her head on her hand, staring around moodily. She was cranky. She'd come here to escape from her older sister. Hester glared into the fire. She hated Janira. Her sister's high, annoying voice echoed around her head. "You're never going to get married to a nice man Hester... You're always running around in the streets, playing with sticks and that silly horse of yours. When are you going to become more ladylike?" Hester growled softly. "I don't want to be ladylike." she said softly. She kicked the table leg moodily. "Life sucks."

A pretty little servant girl spun over to Calliope, avoiding two large men who had just begun drinking. "Anything I can git ya ma'm?" she asked, spinning around and glaring at one of them men who began to tug on her long black plait. "Settle down you two." Marco warned the men as he walked over to Hester.
"On the house." He said to her as he placed a glass of Elven wine in front of her. "What's on your mind?" He asked, keeping an eye on the men who were bothering his daughter.
Cally watched the Falsko man curiously. Of all the races in the world there were two that she hadn't had a chance to speak with, one was Voskon, the other Falsko. Catching his eye she raised her glass to him before taking a mouthful, a smile creeping onto her face.

Hester smiled at Marco, and took the glass. "Thanks." she sipped it, and sighed. "My stupid older sister. Honestly, everyone would be better off if she just stayed in her huge shiny house, with her idiot of a husband... Ugh. That, and the fact I'm stuck in this town helping dad make horseshoes, when I want to go out an travel, have a few adventures." She grinned at Marco. "Sorry. Just needed to vent. I like coming to your little tavern to escape." She found some ribbon in her pocket, and began tying her hair back. "So, any news? Anything crazy happen in the capital? Or anywhere, for that matter?"

The barely visable scar on Shad's cheekbone tingled. The feeling was usually accompanied by the fact that someone was watching him. Shad slowly raised his eyes upward. His gaze met the silver one of the pretty girl he'd noticed earlier. She raised her glass in his direction and Shad gave a nod back. He continued to study her for a moment, then decided that she wasn't a threat. He casually winked in her general direction and turned his attention back to his food. Unless she proved to be more of a threat than he though, he was going to enjoy his meal. Although the tavern accepted his people, that didn't mean that everyone in the room accepted him. He knew a few of them, but also knew they wouldn't bother him. Previous visits had taken care of that. He glanced up once again at the girl, making it look like a casual glance around the room. She was strikingly pleasant to look at, so Shad figured that he could look, since she was.

(*giggles* hmmm, now why does this look familiar xD )
Cally half choked, not expecting a wink from Shad. Marco looked over to her, eyebrow raised. Cally shook her head and cleared her throat. "I'm fine," She said when she could finally speak properly. As Marco returned his attention to Hester, she returned hers to Shad, a smile fixed upon her face. She pat the seat beside her, gesturing for him to join her.
Marco shook his head. "Everyone needs to vent once in a while. It helps." He said, "and I'm afraid the only news I have is that King Logan is loading Laosn up with even more soldiors. Apparently there was an attempt on his life." Marco shrugged, as his time as owner of BelAit Marco had heard many rumours, even a few about King Logan planning the murders of Kallistos' parents, he now had a hard time of believing anything. "Although if it's gossip you want Cally over there is the one to talk to" he motioned to the brown haired girl nearby. "As for adventure, gather up a couple of friends and check out the notice board, there are always farmers looking for a strong hand to protect a crop or two." He finished. "Excuse me." He said as a couple more people entered the Inn.

(Probably because I didn't feel like retyping it!)
Shad gave her a look of total shock and shook his head. The last thing on his mind was getting comfy with a human. Most of them would rather kill him than look at him and he wasn't about to take chances. Besides, he had other things to do. Winter would be there before he knew it and he still had a lot of supplies to put away in order to stay warm and fed. His small cave home wasn't known for being the warmest place even in the summer, but it was his and he liked it that way.
(I've got to get my butt out the door for work. TTYL)

Hester smiled. "Thanks Marco!" she called to his retreating back. She sat for moment longer, finishing her elven wine. "Cally, hmm?" she murmured. 'I wonder...' Hester gritted her teeth, and stood up, walking over to the girl. 'Just be yourself,' her mind advised her. She slid into the seat beside the girl, and smiled slightly. "I was never one to hang around, looking for gossip, but Marco said you might have some news, about things happening in Kylanda? He said something about an attempt on the kings life..."

Cally pouted, her silvery eyes sparkling just a little with fake tears. She was looking forward to meeting the Falsko. Another time then. She thought, looking up as Hester came over to her table. "News, I have plenty of news of what's been happening around here. The Capitol though is a completely different story, and all info on that comes at a price." She told the girl. "Although everything else is free." She added, making sure it was just loud enough for Shad to hear over the noise.

Hester blinked. "At a price? Oh... I... Uh... Well... Ah, nevermind. Thanks anyways, I guess." She turned around, and took half a step, beginning to walk away, before she spun to face Cally again. She was having an internal battle; Shyness, wariness of strangers you meet in taverns vs. Desperation to do something. "Ah... Never mind about the capital, I guess." Mum would kill me if I spent money on... news. She thought, with a touch of disappointment. "You said you know whats been happening around here? Do you know,or have you heard anything about..." Hester hesitated. Well, you've gotten this far... Might as well finish off the job. "Do you know if there are any weapons masters in the area? Err... Trainers? Sword trainers?" She felt her heart sinking. This was stupid. Even if she could find someone willing to teach her how to fight, how would she keep it secret from her parents? Janira would ferret it out after a couple of days, the rat. Hester swallowed, and waited for Cally to answer.

Kavlin lurked in the shadows of the tavern, careful to stay from notice as he watched the various people going about their own business. A girl at the bar was distracted, talking to another girl. There was a Falsko, as well, and that was interesting.
He decided to watch a little longer until an opportunity presented itself. He leaned against the wall of the tavern, stomach rumbling. Patience.

Calliope avoided looking at the servant girl. "Just a small meal and glass of Elven wine," she said quietly. Looking confused at the secrecy, she walked away to go get the order. The girls at the bar seemed to be discussing something...something that they wished to remain secret, by body language, yet the one's voice was quite loud. They obviously wanted someone to hear. Well, as long as that someone wasn't her, she didn't care. Her meal came back, Calliope thrust some money into the girl's hand, and once again maintained her watch. She couldn't believe she had agreed to this, anyway. Where was the mysterious being she was supposed to meet, anyway?

Tes gasped and staggered to the side as she burst forth from the forest. She paused mid step to right herself, but she did not stop moving forward. d**n it! That was so close! she hissed, cursing her own stupidity. She just barely made it out of her animal form in the time limit, if she had stayed a minute longer she might have spent the rest of her days as a mountain lion. Stupid humans, did I look like an ordinary lion? she growled in her head, referring to the poor confused humans who took her for a lion going after their sheep. They had chased her off into the forest and they seemed pretty intent on getting rid of her. I'm not going to be able to change back here for a while, those idiots have probably alerted the others theres a lion on the loose, perfect! She shook her head and grumbled, lifting the hood of her cloak back over her head realizing it had fallen down. She glanced around the street, eying a tavern longingly. Tes was actually hunting when the human farmers rushed her, she wasn't thinking of going after the sheep (sheep wasn't quite to her tastes, she prefers venison) but now she wished she had grabbed one of them. Like always, now that she was back in human form she was weakened almost sickly looking. Light purple rings where adorned under her eyes and her already fair skin paled. Alright, just go in there and get some food then get out quickly. she decided swiftly making her way across the street, glaring at a pair of grubby, greedy young children that where eying the gold on her wrists hopefully. Tes paused at the door cautiously, closing her eyes and inhaling deeply. Being Voskon had more advantages than just being able to transform. She could take a few of her lion characteristics with her after her changed back like her sense of smell and speed. They were especially strong today due to the length of time she spent in her other form. Humans, Elve, Falsko hmm, that is intersting...Norsla? No...a half blood....how unusual, everyone seems at peace, tense maybe but no arguments have broken out between all these different races? What an unusual tavern... she frowned every so slightly, testing the atmosphere with her gifts, Tension, deception, irritation, unusual amount of joy...innocent enough I suppose. she decided, the emotions in the room seemed safe enough for now. Tes loped with her unsual cat like grace to a far table, mentally checking herself. She needed to be reminded not to move to quickly, it would give her away at once. She hoped that she might be able to pass for human, for an elve at the least. She sat down with the same unconscious graceful and pulled the sleeve of her cloak to cover the golden bracelets sparkling on her left wrist. She avoided eye contact, even though her normally bright gold eyes where dark, almost brown with hunger and thirst. She whispered her order, some kind of meat. She didn't like human food much, she enjoyed raw meat better, but this would have to do.
