Kavlin stared a moment at the girl sitting beside him. Spending coins on a street rat? For what purpose? What could she want from him? He looked at the plate of food then back to the girl. Perhaps, if he ate it, she would accuse him of stealing from her? That had happened on many occasions over the years, though never before with food...
His stomach grumbled as the scent of the meat drifted to his nose and Kavlin turned his full attention to the meal. Well, if the girl was set on getting him thrown out or hung, there was nothing he could do about it. She would manage it either way, so he might as well eat what he could.
"Thank you," he said, nodding towards her. "It's very kind of you."
He took a taste of food, then began quickly scooping up mouthfuls.

(xD It gives us a back story for her and lots of info. Long posts are awesome cause they tell us about the charry and give us lots to work with. ' A smile touched Hester's face. A tall, jet black horse poked his head over the door, staring at her for a moment with glittering black eyes, before giving her a nuzzle. ' I read that and grinned, knowing exactly who it was xD. *ponders* hmmm, I think I might bring in Kotir now.) A smile crossed his tanned face as he watched the young girl ride from town. "I think we might be able to turn this to our advantage." He murmured, moving swiftly to catch up to the girl. "That was some dash you made." He commented as he appeared alongside Hester, mounted on a stringy gelding that was far too skinny. He pulled the gelding to a walk, knowing she would stop if she was curious. If she wasn't? Well, there were plenty of others he could work with. ---- Sky wasn't sure what to make of Tes' comment, but she nodded and moved over to Alya, making a note to keep herself out of the way until Tes was ready to talk. Her father always told her to keep the customers happy, as they were the ones who put the food on the table. "Tis 20 bronze M'lady." She told Alya

Having filled his stomach at least part of the way, Kavlin slowed down, taking smaller bites. He casually shoved a large piece of bread and meat wrapped in napkin into his pocket. Reg would like that. And where was Reg, anyway? He hadn't seen or heard a thing from him in hours, a most unusual thing considering Reg's protective nature. Maybe he had found something worth slipping away with? Perhaps something large and difficult for someone small to move around. No use worrying, at least not until later in the night if he still hadn't appeared.
He looked more closely at the girl now. There was something strange yet familiar about her... The way she moved and looked at things. Almost like... But no, what were the chances? He was likely mistaken. It had been a long time since he'd seen someone like that, almost 6 years now.
"My name is Kavlin," he said, holding out one dirty hand and wondering if she would even shake it. He didn't get many chances to wash up on the street. "What brings you to Daism? I don't think I've seen you here before."

"No problem..." she said with a soft smile. Tes watched him curiously, memorizing ever feature. How cautious...he doesn't trust me...thats good, he will survive well in these lands. she thought with a nod of approval. Her original thoughts about him where taken back at once, caution was a trait she much admired. She gazed around the room as he ate, occasionally listening in on conversations. Again there was nothing of interest, no mention of strange lions appearing in the forests or anything like that. Her eyes shifted back to Kavlin when he offered his hands, she took it and shook it gently ignoring the dirt, after all she knew not everyone in the world spent infinite amounts of time preening like she did. "Kavlin..." she said, testing the name out on her unique voice. It sounded so much different on hers than on his, it was almost musical. Her lips twitched downward slightly at his question, "Whats brought me here? Misfortune...you could say. And my name is Tes." The bitter edge to her voice was difficult to catch. "This is indeed my first visit to this town..." she purred. But its not like you would have seen me if it wasn't, I can be more invisible than you, silly human. She moved her hand so she could rest her chin on it and stared at the wall thoughtfully. "This place...its so strange. I've never been in a town where so many different races where excepted. Not even a moment ago I caught the gaze of a Falsko." she chuckled lightly at the end. Her musical laughter, though fake (she hadn't really laughed in many years) made it easy to imagine that she was once a bright and cheerful in her youth. "Heh, this tavern is the strangest though. Vokson beer? Thats an odd item to be selling, I wonder...do you get many of those here too?" she asked causally, turning her blindingly brilliant eyes back on him, coaxing again.

Shad stopped outside the door and leaned back against the wall of the tavern. He could still hear the sounds from inside, but he relaxed slightly. The darkness didn't make him as edgy as the crowded room did. He hated crowds, but that's what he got for living by himself for the last 12 years of his life. He'd only been five when his parents had been killed, but they'd taught him enough to survive on his own. And he had survived. He wasn't good with people, but his skills with a bow, a trap, and a knife would make him a difficult opponet.
He glanced around the small town, taking in everything that he could see in the near darkness. He wasn't sure where to go from here. He needed to find someplace to sleep for the night, but he wasn't ready to sleep, so he'd take care of that later. "I wonder if there's anyplace around here thatsome one can fight for coin?" he muttered, more to himself than anyone that might be around. He considered going back inside but quickly decided against it. He contented himself with sinking to the ground beside the door and listening. Just listening. Like he had many times before. Often picking up useful information or hearing an animal approach before he could see it. He had a unique ability to blend with items so well that many people would walk past him and never notice him. In the woods, they'd likely never see him unless he wanted them too. The wild animals had taught him as much about survival as his parents had. He set his mind to blank and just listened.

'Kavi.' A small voice said in his mind.
Kavlin smiled around a mouthful of food, attention momentarily withdrawn from the girl. 'Reg.'
'Stop sounding relieved.'
'You disappeared!' He protested, carefully keeping his face neutral.
There was a moment of silence, then Reg's voice said: 'I'm fine. This girl, Kavi...'
'What?' Kavlin wondered at him, but was interrupted from the conversation by the girl beginning to speak.
"This is a rather unique city," Kavlin agreed when she had finished, taking another large bite of bread. "Variety." He was discomfitted by her gaze fixed so carefully on him, so that he barely realized the question until a minute had passed. He paled. "V-Voskons? Why do you want to know about Voskons?" There was a flutter of panic in his chest. How-
'Answer her.' Reg said firmly.
Fidgeting, Kavlin scratched at the table. "No, not many Voskons around. Just-just one that I know of, and no one has seen him in a long, long time..." He frowned. "This is an accepting place, but a lot of people even here won't tolerate them."
---Reg POV---
Reg scampered near the door of the tavern. His tail hurt from a near-disaster with a horse hoof, and he was hungry. He had tracked Kavlin's scent all the way here, only relaxing once he caught sight of him eating at the bar. That meant food for him, too, tonight. That was a pleasant thought. Then he caught the scent of the girl beside him, mingling with Kavi's. A Voskon? It couldn't be... He spoke to Kavi, falling silent when the girl began speaking.
He crept closer towards the tavern door, stopping short as he noticed a figure standing not far from the doorway. He had been so focused on Kavi that he hadn't even noticed the man. He sniffed curiously, then froze at the scent. Falsko! He wondered if he could slink away without being noticed, slip his small form along the wall and into the darkness... But then that left Kavi in there all alone.

Tes frowned slightly, boring down on him with her unblinking gaze. He looks....distant...why? The strange looked that flickered across his face unsettled her a bit. It was just enough for her to forget her careful movements and composure, for her hand shot forward in a too quick movement, tucking the hair that covered Kavlins eyes behind his ear. She needed to see his eyes, she stared into the silvery blue trying to lift the truth from them. The reading took but a moment and when she looked away she was puzzled, she couldn't see anything out of the ordinary but she didn't miss the increase in his pulse either. How unusual, this is no normal human... she thought. A few moments of silence brought her out of her trance and she lifted her head, composure returned and she acted as if nothing had just happened. Her gaze was more friendly now, her curiosity was beginning to out weigh her original mission. "Ah, I was just curious. I...had a few Voskon friends, I was wondering if perhaps they might have passed through here." she murmured. Her eyes brightened a little, a glimmer a hope maybe? He has a Voskon friend...could it be? No...the timing is off..but maybe... "You had a Voskon friend too My, that is interesting. What region was he from, maybe we know each other."? she asked with an inviting grin, trying to suppress the rush of dread when he mention Voskons were not tolerated well here. What? Is not like you didn't expect this, especially with your breed! Northerners, the most blood thirsty of all are welcome no where.

Kavlin twitched at the girl's sudden move, relaxing only slightly when she simply pushed the hair from his eyes. He sent distress towards Reg, but received only warmth in return. 'Reg...' There was no answer.
"No, no region," he said, shifting uncomfortably. "He lived here. It was--a long time ago. No one will remember him anymore but me."
'That's good, Kavi,' Reg spoke. 'That's enough.'
'Who is she?' Kavlin asked, fighting the urge to leave, damn the meal as not worth the risk of Reg's life.
'Voskon.'
'Voskon!'
'Don't tell her more, Kavi. Not until we know we can trust her.'
Kavlin acquiesced silently.

Tes could not with hold the rush of disappointment that swelled over her, agony touched her eyes as the last shard of hope shattered. Thats what you get for hoping idiot, you knew Ed would not be here, and befriend a human no less! Still, even the strongest of us crave company... "Oh..." was all she could force out, her eyes distant as she turned her attention back to the tavern wall. She inhaled deeply with the intention of sighing but nearly choked taking in the breath. Her sense of smell had faded a bit, still better than a human but not as strong as well she transformed. Voskon!...no...impossible....its probably just this darn Voskon beer ruining my senses... she grumbled, it was taking everything she had in her not to order a few rounds of beer and drink away her agony, but that was the sure fire way of getting caught. She turned her golden eyes back to Kavlin, the pain still lingered within their depths. "I should not keep you any longer, thank you though...That was most helpful. I hope I wasn't a bother." she whispered, reaching for her cloak. She pulled it over her shoulders carefully and sighed, looking back over at Kavlin again. "Thank you for keeping me company, you are a very interesting human." she smiled, it was an honest smile but she was so consumed in thought she did not realize her slip up.

The moment SaRheia overheard the woman at the table next to her placing her order, her eyes never left her, slightly suspicious, slightly hopeful. Who is she feeding, Rheia wondered, the too-thin girl with the sunken cheeks and dark circles under her eyes, or the assassin? Is this kindness or contract? The woman certainly looked like the kind Rheia's mother had taught her to beg from as soon as she could walk. Her clothes were of fine cloth and well-tailored, and it was clear that she had coin to spare. Kindness, Rheia decided. The woman looked far too well-bred and innocent to need an assassin's blade or nimble fingers. Too bad. Others could very easily take insult to this gesture, too proud to accept charity. But Rheia was more interested in survival. When the meal arrived before her, she breathed the scents in deeply, her mouth watering. She raised her glass to the woman and nodded her head in gratitude. Casually, she reached down and removed a small knife from her boot and laid it on the tabletop, as if wearing it had become uncomfortable. In truth, it was just more advertising, a welcome to the woman if she did, in fact, have work for her, though she still thought it unlikely. But she had been wrong before, and the more she thought about it, she could come up with a few innocent enough tasks a noble might have of one who could hold their own in a fight. A bodyguard, perhaps. Heartened by the prospect of the first hot, home-cooked meal she'd had in weeks and even the barest possibility of work, she tucked into the food, clinging to only the barest of table manners.

' I read that and grinned, knowing exactly who it was xD. XD I said they'd be back, didn't I? ^_^ A surge of electricity surged over Hester as a rider came up beside her, and her heart began to pound madly. She's gotten a pretty big shock... The rider, (it seemed they were male) had just popped out of nowhere. Thoughts started pouring back into Hester's head; When Storm had been galloping, she hadn't really had her mind on anything. She pulled on the reins lightly, and Storm dropped into a canter. She circled him around, and stopped him facing the stranger. She hissed in surprise, finding herself staring into blood red eyes. She backed Storm up a few steps nervously, uncomfortably aware that she hadn't even brought her dagger. Oh hell. She'd just have to take her chances then. She lifted her head, and tried to look confident. "Who're you?" she asked, trying to keep Storm still. Storm shifted, eyes narrowed slightly. He tossed his head, and tried to stare the stringy gelding down. Hester's original fear and shock were being slowly overcome by curiosity. A Norsla? Or at least, a half bred one? Who was he?

Alya looks over to SaRheia eating, and politly askes. "Would you like to sit with me?" Alya looks at SaRheia closely, and thinks to herself 'i know i cant trust her as yet but never a problem to get to know someone.'
"If you would, I would welcome the company."
Alya relaxes it is the first time she has been out of the manor since her father was killed and her brother went missing.
OCC- bit more background--- Alya's father and brother went out hunting and neither came back her fathers body was found but nothing of her brother was found. So she runs the manor by herself and lives in the manor by herself with her servants.

Kavlin watched the disappointment wash over the girl's face. Had she been expecting him to say something different? Maybe she had been hoping to settle here? That was strange, though. From all he knew of Voskons, they tended to stick to their clans. What could she be fishing for?
Kavlin glanced at the girl sharply as she called him "human" but said nothing about it, not wanting to draw any undue attention to her. "Thank you for the meal. If you need any more help, feel free to come to me--and perhaps bring another meal with you." He smirked.
He still didn't trust the girl, but it was interesting to find one like her around the city and he couldn't help wondering, if she had grown up with other Voskons, maybe she knew a way...
'Reg, we should talk to her more. What if she knows-'
'Not yet.'
Kavlin stifled a protest and bit savagely into the last bit of his dinner. He knew Reg was right, they needed to be cautious, but this girl could have the information they needed and he would risk most anything for that. Sighing, he finished his food and pushed the plate away.
