Merchant
Merchants are the traders of Daism. There are both merchant that lives and trades only in Daism and travelling merchants that trades between different cities by way of land and sea. Merchants are usually wealthy people and tend to be a bit stuck up to normal people, the may refuse to speak to people of lower standing then themselves and might refuse to do business with certain races – though they may change their mind about such things for a neat amount of money.
Street rat
Street rats are often very young people that come from the lowest of stands in Dasim. They are always dirty and often wear torn cloths and hungry looks upon their faces. They seldom care for others and has their own survival as their foremost concern. Most of the Street rats in Daism come from the Lower City and very few moves outside of that district.
Guard
There are several types of guards in Daism, City Guards, Palace Guards, Merchant Guards and of course Body Guards. All of these have something in common – they protect something and get paid for it. Most guards are men but a few women also find this line of work attractive. The pay is decent if you don’t mind putting your life at risk ever so often.
Noble
Nobles are the high and might of Daism. They come in every flavour – kind, cruel, intelligent, feebleminded. They are always wealthy and almost all of them live in the Noble Quarter. Many nobles have a stuck up attitude and won’t mix with people of “lesser blood”, they dress and live lavishly and usually don’t consider the consequences of their actions upon those less fortunate. They are also know to be quite decadent at times.
Maid
There are different kinds of maids as there are different kinds of guards – Barmaid, Housemaid, and Ladies Maid. Barmaids help out in the taverns, serving and entertaining the guests of the Innkeeper or Tavern owner. Housemaids are women that usually takes care of wealthy peoples homes, cleans, cooks and sees to it that everything is in order. Ladies Maids are often personal servants and sometimes even companions to the wealthy Noble women. They dresser the Ladies and look after their every comfort. Only females can be maids. Though men can be Man Servants and do about the same thing for Lords.
Stable Hand
Stable hands are almost always men or young boys; they either work in the large stable in Daism or at the stable of a Nobel, Wealthy Merchant or an Inn. They are often quite strong since they do a lot of heavy work looking after other people’s mounts and draft animals.
Baker
Bakers make the daily bread of the city as well as the goodies that find their way to the table of the Nobles. They often own their own baker Shop and sell what they make. Their handiwork finds their way into homes, taverns, inns alike. Everyone needs a bit of bread now and then. Most bakers are women, but there are a few well known male bakers in Daism as well.
Smith
There are several smithies throughout Daism, and thus there are several smiths as well. Some specialise in the craft of weapons or armour while other prefers to make beautiful ornaments for the richer people, yet others prefers the simple work of repairing everyday goods and shoeing horses. Smiths are almost exclusively males and are often built with a heavy upper body physic to be able to swing the hammer at the anvil all day long.
Entertainer
There are many kind of entertains in Daism, from street performance to Singers and dancers. Each has its own place in this large city and each ahs its own style. Street performers are usually poor people just trying to make a living of some small talent while dancers and signers are often either people of great talent or with a lot of training for what they do. The singers and dancers are often women while the street performers are often men.
Mage
Mages are very rare in Daism, and that is because you cannot really learn to be a mage – you have to be born with the magic. Most mages are male, but there are female mages to be found. They often specialise on a certain element and are therefore a bit limited in their powers. Otherwise mages would be a greater power still in Daism. The most common elements are Fire, Water, Air and Earth. Sub Elements such as Ice and Metal branch from these. There are also the extremely rare Dark and Light mages, in some parts of the world they are banned due to being able to perform magic that no one has ever seen.
Thief
Thieves can be found in every part of Daism, but it is the Lower City that is most known for their huge amount of scoundrels and thieves. These people make a living of stealing form other people, no Robin Hood style here. The degree of professionalism ranges from simple pick pockets and con artist to burglars and thugs. There are even upper class thieves that prey on the rich and lonely ladies. Most thieves have a devious nature and are good liars.
Farmer
Farmers are the foundation of Daism’s economy. Without the farmers to work the fields and raise the cattle there would be no food for the large city. Farmers may not be rich but most are hard working honest people that does something that is needed for the community. A lot of farmers may be cynical but is that really such a surprise when they get paid so little by the elite of Daism for their hard work? Farmers produce everything from grain, milk, egg and cheese to pork, mutton and veil. Not to mention wool and linen.
