Amongst the different kinds of voskon many stories and legends are known. Some of these are just that Stories and legend with very little connection to reality, but some stories and some legends do hold more then just a grain of truth in them.
The story I am going to tell to you is one well known to the Leopard voskons and one of their most frequent legends. It is said that this is one of those legends that holds more then just a grain of truth, in fact some say that this story has gone thought very little change despite the fact that it is said to have taken place close to two millennia ago…
According to legend the voskons once had a very different way of living then they have today. Two millennia ago our civilization was at its peak of greatness, great cities and palaces was built upon ground that today hardly holds the crumbling remains of their ruins. Wealth was flowing into our coffins and the local human tribes, far less advanced then our race, worshiped us as gods due to our power to shift our own shape and take upon that of an animal. Great temples were erected in the midst of the jungles, mountains and plains to please our people and spare the poor humans from suffering. It was in this time that the great leopard emperor Javier came to power in the eastern region. This emperor was a great one that unified several of the voskon tribes into one people – using brute force as well as luring them over with promises of a better life or luxuries they could not have on their own. His time of ruling was filled with wars and bloodshed, for Javier would not give up on his quest.
Several years before his ascent to the throne as emperor, Javier had heard from the prophets and wise men that he would become the greatest man in voskon history and that his name would never be forgotten. He would unite all the voskons and with that brute force of shape changers and shape changing magic he would be able to capture the whole world and change the destiny of the world. Javier, a great narcissist as he was, was thrilled by this prophecy and quickly saw to it that he would be next in line for the imperial throne by simply removing all obstacles between him and what he saw as his destiny. His path was bloody and among the bodies he left behind was accounted his mother, sister and three cousins as well as his brother and father. At last only his uncle, Emperor Reyes II, obscured Javiers vision to the future. But the old emperor was well loved by his people as well as by the worshiping humans that toiled in the fields of the voskons. It would take Javier several years to find the way to discredit the old emperor badly enough for his people to see him as a corrupt being, a beast that held no humanity. And Javiers plan was one of the most devious ones in all of our legends.
Javier was not happy with just killing the old emperor, the narcissist in him wanted the aging old man discredited and his whole harem and close kin dragged into the dirt with him. This was no easy feat to achieve nor was it easy to stage such tragedies that could lead up to the execution of his uncle and all his women and bastards. In the end Javier settled for something simple, yet devious. On the week leading up to the festival of the Sun God the human workers started finding cattle slaughtered in the most awful of ways. The animals had not only been killed – but ripped to pieces as they still fought for their lives. The number of animals killed seemed to double with each day, and each morning the human workers woke to an even worse massacre then the day before. Then, on the morning of the first day of the Sun God festival several humans were found savaged as badly as the animals had been the previous week. The human workers were in great distress and several of them went to plead to their ruler and god that he would find the savage beast that did these horrible deeds. The Emperor Reyes II listened to the humans pleads but refused to believe that it could be any of his people causing such a havoc, yet he promised that he would have someone looking into the deed in due time. He then threw out his hands and asked his human worshipers to be joyous for today was the first day of the festival of the Sun God and what else could then bother a person.
The festivities went on and some of the humans forgot all about the massacre, for no more cattle nor humans was found killed during the days that the festival held place. Yet the whole holiday seemed to have something dark looming about it and few felt at ease as the dusk of the last day of the festival approached rapidly. But nothing happened at dusk and everyone in the great temple city seemed to settle down just fine after the days of festivities that had been held. The night was quiet and no one was prepared for what would be found the following morning as dawn left its golden glow around the edges of the world.
It was nothing that hinted that this would be a day to change the course of history, nor that it had started with blood and would not end until more blood had been spilt. For the view that met the public this morning was beyond what a human mind could take in at once. On the palace steps over 100 bodies of human beings was found – slaughtered. The city went into riot mode and fear spread faster then any wildfire could have. The streets were bussing with rumours of whom or what could have done such a horrendous deed. Then people realised that their emperor had not been seen all morning and the bodies was found on the step of his temple. Worry spread through the crowd, for as mentioned earlier the ruler was much loved by his people. The mob rushed up the long stairs to the airy room where the king was known to spend the warm summer nights. They all came to halt in the large door way as the sight within sent shivers and fear through them all.
It was well known that the old emperor was a Lion voskon, and that he had chosen mainly Lionesses for his harem. But people had never questioned why he had not, as with previous rulers, tried to bring different kinds of voskons together by choosing other subspecies of voskons for his wives and mistresses. Now the questions were being screamed through peoples heads as they watched the newly awaken king arise from his bed of pillows and his harem and band of bustards stirring among the multicoloured pillows and drapes of the room. They were all nude, but that was not something that in itself drew attention to them. It was the scarlet blood that covered most of their bodies that drew the people’s attention as it caught the first glints of sunlight. A low growl was heard from a corner as a lioness slipped forward towards the emperor. It was Reyes first Wife, Tabia, that none had seen for some moons now. She looked savagely upon the others with blood and drool hanging from her pink tongue. There was nothing human left in the woman that could have been an empress. Tabia had lost her human form, and they knew that now.
I'm still working on this. Its just around one page in my word document and this is more of the background to the real leasson of the legend. so enjoy. XD
