Puma Voskon InformationPuma Concolor
North American Cougarblackhillsportal.com/images/newsimage/mountain%20lion%2001.jpgGeneral Information. Voskon of the North-family-feline, genus-Puma
(commons names are Mountain Lion, Cougar, and Panther)
They weigh in at 200-300 (in their animal form) and stand between 3 to 4 feet at the shoulder (length is about 9 feet from nose to tail). They are obviously much larger than the normal Puma, but on the large cat weight scale they remain in the same place. (Fourth heaviest cat in the Northern Region, the Tiger, Lion and Jaguar all being heavier and the leopard being light taking 5th place.) Their exact life span is unknown, but it said to be longer than a humans (Like cat years in reverse.)
Unlike the regular mountain lion, they do have the ability to roar, as well as purring, chirping, hissing, whistling and the high pitch whining they are known for (This is not normally used for anyone outside their race, and is more commonly used to for calling out greeting to pride members.)
Pride Life. Normal prides are very small, 5 members being the normal range, 10-15 being a large pride. The prides normally include the Alpha female (the only one allow to have kittens) her mate (the Alpha male), her closet litter mate almost always being a sister and her kittens (If they happen to have any kittens at all). When they do have kittens it is always in one's or two's, never anymore than that. Unlike most of the Voskon breed the Puma Voskon have a very high fertility rate, this is due to their strong conviction to their breed. Their pride (here meaning their ego, not their grouping XD) doesn't allow them even the thought of allowing their race to die out and they are known for reaching out to even their worst enemies to inter marry with. Interbreeding with other races is not possible for Voskon, or at least that is the common knowledge. Edward and Tes have some other theories on this however, after examining a old texts and legends...(see Norsla+Voskon legend, and the Phasing legend for details).
Its is not unusual however to see a Puma living on its own, in fact quite a few prefer this life style as their is less competition for food, and less of a chance of being found by humans or other races. As for diet, they are designed to hunt a large range of prey...from small rodents to large elk, deer or sheep. They have recently found a food source in cattle (much to the displeasure of the Easterners) and it has been reported some bold Northerners have succumbed to stealing the Easterner's easy to catch cattle.
Religion. Religion varies from clan to clan, though they do have common points. One of which being they descended down from Cheetah clans {link-
farm1.static.flickr.com/37/115345411_e951edb29b.jpg?v=0}, rivals of the Barbary Lions {Link-
www.tigerhomes.org/animal/images/barbary-lion.jpg}, also called the Nubian Lions. (It is currently documented that both are extinct, though rumors have been buzzing of a revival...but that is
highly unlikely.) The Puma creation story is the basis of their 'religion' as it explains some of the reasoning behind having so many different variations. It was said in the very beginning the clan of the Cheetah was split in two, those who opposed the rivalry with their neighbors the Lions, and those who were for the rivalry. The split mainly had to do with both sides original beliefs, the oldest being the Way of Balance. The ones who believed in the balance of the world held strong to their beliefs, even to the point of going against their own clans. They felt no need to harm the Barbary lions, and knew 'The Balance' would react to the way the Way of the New were acting. The Way of the New was said to be formed by one rebellious, rouge male who was sick of the calm boring way of the elders. He rebelled against them by coming up with his own theory of how life came to be, that they were really just the sons and daughters of the Blood god and it was the Blood god that gave them life, not Balance. This idea rilled the youth of the clan, to the surprise of the elders and the only reasonable thing to do at the time was split ways. The young, lead by the rouge male, continued to battle with the Barbary Lions while the Elders merely slipped away. Those that follow the New religion say that the Elders where obliterated, but because there are still some clans that follow the way of Balance Tes and Edward figured at least a small amount of the Elder Puma survived in order to pass on their knowledge. (Just as a side note, Both Tes and Ed follow neither religion...though they do like to lean on the way of the Elders on occasion.)
From this point the Elders beliefs really become unimportant as 99% of the Puma currently alive today follow the New Way. (The Tsume have their own separate beliefs, but this is the basis for it all).
[/sup]
The way of the new is obviously a fake religion built to suit the needs for the young rouge at the time. Never the less those who follow it believe in it
very strongly. It was said that the world was created by all the lessor gods in order to please the Blood god, to clear away his boredom and satisfy his curiosity. So the gods of the world came together and created the earth, each of them placing one creature to represent themselves. The Blood god was very pleased in his new 'toy' and spent years like days examining every little detail. When the Blood god finished looking over this new world, he was dissatisfied. There was something missing in this new world, something like him. (Gee this gods not vain at all ne?
) He, of course, could not even think about dropping everything in order to walk among the beings of this new world, so instead he decided to create a new creature. This creature would take his place in this world, ruling over all the others in any way they seemed fit.
So the blood god took his blade from his belt and sliced open his fingers, letting his blood rain down on the earth for one day and one night. After that he reached out into the earth mixing a handful of dirt from the heavens with the blood, creating a clay from which he sculpted his new being in his likeness. He was so satisfied and proud of his handsome beast he decided to relinquish part of his soul to it, giving it his will to fight, the desire for flesh, and the strength to kill. These traits have been passed on through the breed ever sense, and in honor of their gods blood sacrifice one day out of the year they hunt massive amounts of prey shedding blood for him.

Old Way[/sup]
In a way the Elders religion was that they didn't have a religion. They did not have a creation story, or a god, they simply believed in the harmony of the world. They believed that there would be peace as long as there was balance, if the balance was thrown karma would take over and the instigators would be punished. Believers of this way sought to understand all ways of life, and in because of this they can't stand meaningless bloodshed. They take from life only what they need and honor what ever kill they make, asking forgiveness for takings its life. Unfortunately this way of thinking allowed many breeds to take advantage of them and they were constantly targets for more powerful tribes before the schism.[/li][/ul]
