Tes was really moving, and Traf, though his stride was longer, still had to move quickly to keep up. He was too focused on following Tes and his own inner pain to realize Kijah wasn't with them until he heard her calling out. He stopped dead in his tracks. The last thing he'd intended was to lose her. She sounded so frantic, that he worried she was in trouble.
He barked urgently to Tes and without pausing, made a complete turn and raced back along the path to Kijah, paws pounding the earth. As soon as his nose told him he was near, he shifted. He burst through a bush and into the small clearing where she stood, an almost frantic look in his eyes, his heart just about beating out of his chest.
That all changed, however, the moment he saw her. He stood, frozen in place, staring. His eyes were blank and he forgot to breathe, though his mouth was slightly agape. He even forgot how wretched he felt, there, in the presence of a goddess.

Kijah was making her way through the trees when she heard something coming her way, she prepares to shift incase it was someone she didn't know, but froze when Traf pushed through the brush. She was so used to shifting with her clothes she was puzzled by his staring. Then she noticed him. he was in the same spot she was, bare as the day he was whelped.
She glanced up at the sky Great Mother you sure do know your work, and you do it well He was gorgeous, perfect in every way she could see just how well tones he was and wanted even more to make this wolf her mate. Then she realized....she too was naked. She blushed a deep red before she walked up to him.
"Traf, I'm sorry. Hmm I seem to be saying alot of that today don't I." She looked into his eyes searching for any hurt she may have caused.
"Traf when you ran off, I---I felt like you didn't want me to come, like I messed up. Traf I can't live with that feeling again, I can't be alone again." She was now at a loss for words, she only places her hands on his chest, his very strong ,well muscled chest. Stop it Kijah stay focused!!!

Kijah was talking. Traf knew that. What the hell she was saying, he had no clue.
He shook his head, trying to clear his thoughts. "What?" he asked softly, feeling sheepish enough that his cheeks flushed.

Tes flicked her ear back in Traf's direction and planted her back end into the ground, coming to a screeching halt. Is something wrong? she wondered turning around to follow Traf's scent. She had been so engrossed in her run she had barely noticed anything around her, which she reminded herself was a very dangerous act. Tes sighed heavily and picked up speed as Traf scent became stronger, she should have told him she couldn't stay in this form much longer. Hopefully his little detour isn't going to harm my humanity -sigh- you could just change back you know...Yes but I enjoy being difficult... she growled to herself, still annoyed. Tes broke through the forest clearing nearly stumbling over Kijah and Traf. She leapt to the side and phased back before she collided with them. Tes eyed them both for a second with a raised eyebrow then tossed the shirt she been carrying at Kijah. "You might want to put that on if you want him to listen." she snorted, holding in a sarcastic chuckle. Tes sat down on the ground and sighed, "I was under the impression we were hunting, I'll be happy to go off without you, if you two love birds want to stay here." she smirked pulling her long hair over her shoulders. Far back on her mind, she wondered if she should have been so blunt but her annoyance squashed it flat and she continue to glare moodily at the two.

Traf shook his head again, the impact of Kijah’s words hitting him all at once.
Sorry. I didn’t want her to come. Can’t be alone again. His mind raced as he looked down at her hands on his chest in disbelief. Slowly he turned his eyes up to her face. She looked to be caught between tears and embarrassment, a faint blush still coloring her cheeks. It should be a sin to be so beautiful, he thought, his heart aching. Had he been wrong? Oh, how he hoped.
Just then Tes crashed through the brush, and Traf startled, his senses returning in full strength at last. He watched as Tes handed over the shirt to Kijah, both disappointed and relieved, knowing he very well might have made Kijah quite mad already. She was just so…distracting. And intoxicating. He averted his eyes, making a late attempt at politeness.
“A moment, kitten,” he said, his voice hoarse. “Just a moment.”
He stared at the dirt, thinking hard, trying to figure out just what he was going to say.

Kijah was startled by Tes's entrance but was thankful for the shirt Traf had been so busy staring he manged to not notice the wounds from Mitra. She hurridly put it on and then looked back up at Traf.
"I need to know Traf, all you have to do is answer honestly. do you wish me to stay, or do I need to start on my way. I won't be a burden to anyone, if my presence is no longer desired I will be on my way in search of else where. I can't assume here, the last few decisions I have made haven't had the greatest results, ok well there was the one, but it got worse after that one blessed moment. You said you would never ask me to leave but your look and touch back there was different, now I don't know what to believe."
She made sure the shirt was covering her shoulder, the wound on her thigh was off to the side where it was semi-hidden from his eyes. Sh didn't want anything that would bring his pity, she wanted to know if his heart walked the same path as hers. If he asked her to leave she would, she wouldn't like it but she would not stay where she wasn't wanted, and his silence was starting to frighten her.
She had not moments ago revealed to him her heart, but he seemed either not to care or not to notice. She wanted to wait for his answer, but the wolf inside her was howling in hunger, her energy was low and would have just enough for this hunt, but not if it was held off much longer.
"Traf, please, I must know."

“Oh, Kijah,” he whispered, but he hurt too much to manage anything more. It was all or nothing. He stepped forward suddenly, drawing her into his arms tightly, his full and her half nudity forgotten. As a Voskon, clothing had always been a courtesy to him, not a necessity.
He worked hard to still his hand from trembling as he reached up to brush the hair away from her ear. He leaned in as best he could. He would have pressed his lips to her ear if she hadn’t been so damn short. It made him smile slightly, despite the situation. Just another thing he loved about her.
His voice soft, he bared his soul to her. “Kijah, I swore to you I would never tell you to leave. I would never have given my word to you if I did not intend to keep it. Not to you, my dearest Kijah.” He paused, giving a deep, shaking sigh.
“My greatest wish is for your happiness, but I would not ask you to stay with this fool unless you so desired,” he whispered, making reference to her comment back at the cave. “I would have you at my side the rest of my days, little wolf, I would have you as…” he trailed off, almost afraid--afraid to say too much. But his fear had brought them to this point, brought Kijah to this pain, and he wasn’t going to let it get the best of him again. “As my mate,” he said finally. With that, he released her, drawing back to look into her eyes and watch her reaction, hoping, down to the core of his being.

Kijah closed her eyes and let out a ragged breath when she heard what lay in Traf's heart. He still wanted her to stay, he still cared for her. She also heard however just how much her minor joke had hurt him, she still felt a pang of guilt for hurting him that way.
She breathed deep his scent,as he held her close. She could feel his heart beating fast, this was indeed hard for him to do. His heartbeat alone was telling almost as much as his words. Then she froze. She thought for a moment taking in what he just said.
He wanted the same as she. He wanted her to be his mate. She couldn't find the words to answer this, her mind was blank, but her inner wolf was howling in joy. All she could do was look up at him and smile. Smile and reach up and pull him down to finally kiss him on something more than his arm or chest. She kissed him deeply before breaking the kis to whisper, "By Ahnonda, I thought you would never get around to that wolf."

At first, when Kijah went still in his arms, Traf's heart sank. He felt sick, almost dizzy. He'd done it. He'd scared her off. Sure, he'd heard that she cared for him, but by using the word 'mate' he'd more or less done everything but drag her before a shaman to be married. Oh, what a thought, he sighed, but it isn't to be. It was too much, too fast.
Then, as he watched Kijah, his eyes full of pain, she did the unthinkable. She smiled. He was just as surprised when her hands grasped his face and pulled his lips down to meet hers. For a moment, he stilled, holding his breath. Then, as if a flip switched and he realized that she had frozen likely for the same reason he had, he relaxed and returned the kiss.
All too soon she broke it off, but her words were just as sweet as her lips. He felt as if the world melted away, leaving only the two of them. "Well, I guess I had to work up the nerve," he said teasingly, beaming from ear to ear, "you seemed too perfect to fall for an idiot."
He slid his hands down her arms until he reached her hands, which he grasped tightly. He moved in to kiss her again, amazed that only hours ago he'd been entirely ignorant that he was about to meet the one he'd want to be kissing the rest of his life.

Kijah felt as if there was no other in the world and would have loved nothing else than to have stood there with him, him kissing her. She enjoyed his gentleness, if anyone would look at him they would see a strong man, she only see's him and his kindness and stregnth.
She suddenly got the feeling of being watched, and not just by Traf. Tes!!
"Umm Traf, we forgot our audience, and she isn't looking good. As much as I would love to just stay in your arms I need to hunt as well. I only have enough energy right now for this shift to hunt, after that I will be drained."
She didn't want to leave his arms, but she knew full well that as soon as the hunt was over he would make sure he was close to her once again, and her him.

Kitten! he thought, alarmed. By no means was she going to be thrilled. He slowly turned to look at her. Tes had sounded annoyed when she'd handed her shirt over to Kijah, and he doubted that her mood would have improved after his and Kijah's little show.
After Kijah finished speaking, he was reminded of his own hunger. Spending so much time with the wild wolves meant that he rarely at every day, often gorging himself with his wolfen family and living off that for as long as possible. 'As long as possible' was drawing to a quick close, what with all the rapid shifting he'd done that day. And the lack of even a small breakfast, he thought, making a face. Wonder whatever did happen to that rabbit.
Wait, Traf thought, frowning deeper, wondering just why Kijah was so exhausted. She told me she'd fed well recently this morning. He looked at her and raised an eyebrow, concerned. He wanted to ask, but it would have to wait. All three of them were clearly in need of a good hunt.
He looked at Tes and smiled, trying to force a bit of humor into his eyes as well. It was almost an apologetic smile, one that might have accompanied the saying 'Boys will be boys' or 'You know how it is.' While he figured she had been rolling her eyes in amusement the entire time he and Kijah had been speaking, for that's what he likely would have done in her place, he hoped she wouldn't be too cross.
"Well, shall we be off?" he said with a smile.

At first Tes only continued to smirk and roll her eyes just as Traf predicted. She snorted to herself as she lay back against a tree. Heh, that really was quick...quite amusing, but endearing known the less I suppose...Still Tessa you are not one to judge, were you not the same at one time? she thought glancing back up at Traf. But as soon as he took Kijah into his arms...in that sickening moment..she was reminded of Kado. The two had fallen for each other from the moment the moment they laid eyes on each other, even as young as they were. It was an encounter that could only be called Fate, the affection, the intensity...and feeling that from Traf and Kijah now and knowing they wound indeed be able to stay together til the end of their days ripped the lid right of her emotions, flooding her with the pain so normally reserved for night. Tes clenched her jaw tight, but not for her thirst but to keep from crying out. She knotted her fingers in her hair pulling it around her like a curtain in some mad hope it would be like a wall and keep Traf and Kijah's emotions from reaching her. How Pure it was! Their love, only once had she felt its equal...her own that was now long lost. Her face twisted up with the full force of her agony, she only barely managed to rein it in enough that only traces remained when Traf turned to her. She smiled and shook her head in what she was trying to put off as good naturally, but known reached her eyes, still wide with the pain she so bitterly fought. She let out a light sigh, pushing the lid back down regaining some control of her thoughts. "Well lets go then, it was this way..." she grumbled remembering she was supposed to be acting annoyed with them both. She picked herself off the ground and gathered the rest of her clothing before she walked off into the woods not phasing outright. If she wanted to actually hunt she'd have to travel half the way in this form at least. Tes hummed to herself her voice low and haunting, her appearance could be deemed as carefree if one was not studying it too closely. But in her heart she was crumpled on the forest floor still sobbing over the deaths of those she loved long ago. Yes...I leave today, I'll leave and continue my search for Edward. I won't be able to live much longer if I don't... She thought, even in her head her voice was mournful whisper. Tes looked up at the forest ahead, now determined to go find out and re claim her reason for exisitance...her Edward.

Reg crept along the edges of the forest, finally coming upon Traf, Kijah, and Tes. He had stayed carefully downwind of them and his movements made no more sound than the other small animals roaming the forest. He clambered up the trunk of a tree, gripping onto the thick-growing moss on its bark as a ladder, and came to stand on a large branch. He watched them from his perch, wondering what he had missed. Tes seemed annoyed, Traf and Kijah shy.
Oh, Tes was moving them. He stood and evaluated the distances between the trees. He was no squirrel, nor a flying rat, but the trees were close enough together that he could scramble and hop from one to another if he chose his course carefully. He'd had plenty of experience at this from stealing trinkets--shiny trinkets--from bandits slipping through the woods.

If there was tension in the air, Kijah didn't know it. This moment she knew nothing but the joy of Traf's words. She had been waiting so long, wait, ok so long today to hear him say that. From that moment in the woods at the wolf's den, she knew she wanted him to be her mate. When he ran off from the leopardess, she just knew she had ruined that. She was very lucky that his feelings meant more to him than her joke. She muswt make sure to make up for that one soon however.
She was glad when Tes didn't shift right away, she wasn't sure where these elk were and she knew she didn't have the energy for a long travel plus a hunt. She held out her hand to Traf waiting for him to lead the way. She couldn't quite contain her excitement over the coming hunt, she wanted to run with him in hunt so much that just the thought made her want to shift right there and take off. She must control herself though, she needed to focus this excitement and save it for energy for the hunt.
(loves Reg and his "Shiney" facination)

If Traf hadn’t been looking at Tes already, he would have missed it. Pain flashed across her face, a haunted look entering her golden eyes, the way she used her hair as a shield. In that instant, he felt the wolf raise its hackles, baring teeth at the invisible threat that had made his kitten so upset. He would have gone to her, offered whatever comfort she’d accept, but then the pain was gone in a flash, only the barest hints left behind. He realized then that it was private pain, and that, like the shattered bits of his past that could make him look as she just had, would not be shared lightly. From then on, he vowed to watch her closely and, if the opportunity arose, he would do whatever he could to make sure that neither his kitten nor Kijah ever looked that way again.
At least my Kijah’s happy, he thought with a satisfied sigh. He stretched out his hand and grasped her fingers tightly, his eyes fixed on Tes’ back. He followed after his kitten at Kijah’s side, feeling, for the first time since he’d left his entire family behind, like he truly belonged there.
